Dawn’s story – Dawn is a working mother of two boys, ages 3 and 5. She has lived in Walkersville, MD for the last 6 years. She works 2 jobs currently and is trying to get a home based business off the ground as well. With all of that, she still tries to have a home cooked meal on the table Sunday – Thursday nights, as she works Friday and Saturday nights. Since her home based business, as a Beach Body Coach is in the health and fitness field, she does try and make healthy choices, which are not always an easy thing to do, but she does her best. It is important to her, to help her children make good life choices and live a lifestyle that will be good for their health.
Here is what Dawn had to say about Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime–
Q- What was your first impression of Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime?
Dawn - At first, I thought that it was only a “cookbook,” but upon leafing through the pages, I realized it was much more. It actually had a story and a lesson! My children were able to go from front to back and stay captivated without getting bored or having their attention drawn elsewhere.
Q- What was your favorite part of Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime?
Dawn - I thought that it was a very interesting idea the way that Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime is not just a cookbook; it helps to teach my children the importance of making good choices. It gets them excited about participating in deciding about what we are going to eat.
Q – How did your children like Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime?
Dawn - My children LOVED Mrs. Sheff! My 5 year old was captivated by the book. They really liked Eating A Rainbow and figuring out what colors they like eating the best.
Q- Anything else you would like me to mention about your experience with Cooking’s Cool in the Springtime?
Dawn - I absolutely love the premise behind Cooking's Cool and eating a rainbow. What a wonderful way to help teach my children about what they should be eating. They were drawn to choosing all the colors and have been helping me in the grocery store to pick out something from every color. I have been wanting to have my boys help me in the kitchen but have been afraid of the mess or not having the patience to give them the time and space they need. Cooking's Cool helped me realize the importance of including my boys in making the decisions about what they are going to eat. After all, it is my responsibility to make sure they make good choices, but I have the teach them what the good choices are. Cooking's Cool helped me focus on the importance of that. so even though my children are a little young to really "BE" in the kitchen, I have learned that it is necessary to get them involved. Cooking's Cool has helped me realize that I must take the time and effort to make them a part of meal time decision making.
